The opening three editions of the Antalya Open took place at luxury hotel resort Kaya Palazzo Belek on the grass between 2017-2019, gathering a small crowd and lower-ranked players.
Antalya stayed away from the calendar in 2020, like the entire grass swing, returning in 2021 at the new venue and different surface. The ATP 250 event takes place between January 5-13, marking the season opener together with Delray Beach. As the pre-Australian Open tournament, the surface has moved to hard, and the field is much stronger than in the previous years, with six top-30 players seeking the first title of the season.
Matteo Berrettini, David Goffin, Fabio Fognini, Alex de Minaur, and Benoit Paire should be the players to beat. However, it is hard to make predictions at the beginning of the new season and after a long break.
Jan-Lennard Struff, Jannik Sinner, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Miomir Kecmanovic and Alexander Bublik will try to spoil their party and earn a notable result in the season's opening week before heading to Melbourne. Sinner looks like the most dangerous player from that second group, working hard during the off-season and hoping to continue where he left in Sofia in November.
