"Best answer possible": Mouratoglou applauds Tsitsipas for not getting involved in Djokovic mind games ahead of Australian Open Final

Novak Djokovic had an interesting moment recently when he expressed that Tsitsipas didn't play a grand slam final before when asked about the Greek.

The Serbian was asked about facing Tsitsipas and praised his experience on the big stage while being unable to recall if he ever played in a grand slam final before. It's not uncommon for tennis players to not remember the results of a fellow player but Tsitsipas did contest a grand slam final before, against Djokovic no less.

He said:

"I know Tsitsipas, for example, probably the most experienced guy out of all of them, all the quarterfinalists. He has played already the final stages of a Grand Slam quite a few times. I think he has never played a finals, am I wrong?"

It was the 2021 French Open final where they met and Djokovic came back to win from 0-2. Many think Djokovic was playing mind games because there is very little chance that he doesn't remember the final and the way he came back to win it. He was ultimately correct and apologized for not remembering.

Tsitsipas was made aware of it and asked about it and his response was deemed brilliant by his occasional coach and mentor Patrick Mouratoglou. Tsitsipas said:

"I don't remember either. No, don't remember."

Mouratoglou's reaction to it was:

"Best answer possible!"

They will contest another final tomorrow.
