Boris Becker violates travel restrictions, could face jail time

Boris Becker is awaiting the start of a trial in a London court regarding some bankruptcy delay issued but the German could face jail time because of breach of travel restrictions.

The German tennis legend has a criminal proceeding undergoing against him which severely restricted his options for travel. However the German travelled to Mallorca in August without notifying the courts in London which was a breach of his restrictions. Becker went to Mallorca for a family reunion and upon return to the UK, the London courts imposed even stricter restrictions.

Becker was supposed to arrive in Court on Monday for his trial to begin but it was delayed until 2022 because Becker changed his legal team causing an automatic postponement. At the hearing where stricter restrictions were imposed the court criticized Becker for taking a trip without notifying the court explaining that he would need to notify the court in advance of any further trips.

If Becker fails to notify the court in advance and breaches restrictions once more he could face jail time. The criminical proceedings will begin in March, 2022 and until then the restrictions will remain in place.
