It will be the first time Berrettini takes part in the event and he is excited to represent Team Europe against Team World. The World team is the home this time around as the event will be played in the TD Garden in Boston. Berrettini, nicknamed 'the hammer' for his deadly serve + forehand combination is very excited for the event which he admitted in an interview leading up to the event.
He said:
“I’m really excited to be part of the Laver Cup this year. I’ve heard so much talk in the locker-rooms from the guys that have played it before about what a cool event it is. Playing at TD Garden and having Bjorn Borg as my captain… is going to be a really special experience.”
Berrettini has enjoyed a mixed year in 2021 with several stunning results such as the Wimbledon final after which an injury caused him to lose form. He picked up decently during the North American swing and he hopes to be ready for the rest of the season.
