With the
Laver Cup just over a month away, Team World captain John McEnroe has named Australian
Nick Kyrgios and Americans
Reilly Opelka and
John Isner as the final members of his team.
The trio will be joining the Canadian duo of
Denis Shapovalov and
Felix Auger-Aliassime, alongside Argentina's
Diego Schwartzman to battle Team Europe in this year's edition of the Laver Cup.
“Laver Cup is my favorite week of the year and I just love being part of the team," said Kyrgios. "It’s going to be unreal playing at TD Garden, home of the Celtics.”
This year's Laver Cup will be held at the TD Garden in Boston, USA, from September 24-26, 2021.
“Boston fans love their sport, so if we can win the Laver Cup anywhere, then TD Garden and Boston, one of the greatest sports cities in the world, is the place to do it,” added the Australian.
A potential matchup at the event could feature Kyrgios taking on Norwegian
Casper Ruud, who is representing Team Europe. The pair have had issues with each other in the past, which has led to them engaging in a war of words over social media.
