Brandon Nakashima has made a habit of beating
John Isner as he did it again in
Indian Wells sending the former finalist 7-6(7) 6-3 home.
This is the 3rd time Nakashima was able to defeat Isner in his career and it was a super solid win for the young American. He's had somewhat of a shaky start so this win will certainly give him some confidence moving forward. The first set went to a tiebreak which should not surprise anyone but Nakashima was able to pull it out.
He's been exceptionally strong against Isner in tiebreaks winning a couple of them. This one was particularly close with the final score being 9-7 to Nakashima. The second set was automatically easier for Nakashima as he waited for his chance and once it take he took it. The key to his win was the court which allowed him to get many balls back and Isner is simply not good enough anymore to win long rallies.
Still, it was an impressive showing from Nakashima as he posted 20 winners and only 7 unforced errors. That's a really tough ask of Isner who was solid with 27 winners but also 25 winners.
