Alexander Bublikb played a fabulous match to defeat
Casper Ruud and secure the 3-1 win for Kazakhstan over Norway.
In a heated battle in Oslo,
Alexander Bublik rose high to defeat Casper Ruud in front of his native fans propelling his nation past Norway. It was a very good match from Bublik was playing extremely aggressively not wasting any time in rallies. Bublik attacked at every opportunity and it worked. In the first set, Ruud was holding his own for the most part but he was too passive at times.
Bublik got a chance to break and he did it taking the opening set with 6-4. In the 2nd set, a close battle ensued with both players playing rather well. Bublik faced some issues at 5-4 for Ruud in the 2nd set but he was able to save several set points and stay in the match. Ruud however kept applying the pressure and ultimately won the 2nd set with 7-5.
The catastrophe happened for Ruud in the opening of the 3rd set as she lost his serve early on. Bublik took a 2-0 lead and never looked back. The player from Kazakhstan just served too well for Ruud who did apply pressure a couple of times but ultimately he wiggled himself out of it with tremendous serving. He won the final set with 6-4 to lift his nation past Norway.
