A complete performance from Cameron Norrie!
Cameron Norrie and Holger Rune played a couple of times this year and once again it was the Brit that triumphed 7-5 6-4 6-1.
It was a rather straightforward win for Norrie who played his typical physical tennis with long rallies that Rune could not handle. The Danish player tried various things like attacking and shortening the points but Norrie had a response for everything. The opening set's first break happened on the serve of Ruud despite the Danish player having break points of his own.
At 5-4, Norrie had a chance of closing out the opening set with a serve but dropped it to give Rune a chance. He didn't take it as Norrie jumped out ahead, finishing it off 7-5. He had far more winners but also more errors, a couple too many in the end. The 2nd set featured excellent play by Rune, his best of the day but Norrie was still not to be denied.
He matched the level taking an early double break lead 4-1 giving one back. He would hold the other for the 6-4 finish. The final set featured Norrie who cruised easily against Rune who was out of it by now. A great win for Norrie as he keeps collecting points for Turin.
