Players from Canada are trying to re-do their Davis Cup Finals success also at the ATP Cup as they earned their 2nd victory in Australia.
At the Davis Cup, Canada ended as a runner-up what nobody expected before the tournament. The young squad proves themselvs every single match as now they defeated Germany.
However, Felix Auger-Aliassime did not start the tei ideally when he struggled against Jan-Lennard Struff. The German has won the match after 76 minutes 6-1 and 6-4 and gave Germany 1-0 lead early on.
But Denis Shapovalov then added his 2nd victory against TOP 10 player this week. First,
he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas and now he added a comfortable victory over Alexander Zverev. Shapovalov dominated the match when he has won it 6-2 and 6-2 after just 71 minutes.
And Shapovalov teamed up with Auger-Aliassime once again for doubles. They faced an experienced German duo Krawietz & Mies. However, the youngsters pulled out their A game again and won the match 6-3, 7-6 to give their country 2-1 victory over Germany.
Now Canada needs to wait for the other results, to see if they can still advance from the 2nd place in Group.
Australia will advance from the first place in Group F as they were flawless so far during the tournament.
