All three first seeded players advanced into the 2nd round at the 2020 ASB Classic as no.1 Serena Williams grabs an easy victory.
It was a great start of the season for Williams at ASB Classic yesterday, when she has won the doubles match with Caroline Wozniacki who is set to retire after Australian Open.
Today, Serena Williams played also her singles match when she defeated Camila Giorgi in 70 minutes 6-3, 6-2. Another American, Amanda Anisimova also advanced when she defeated Kozlova 6-3, 6-4.
Also second-seeded Martic was successful in Auckland after a three set battle. She faced qualifier Arconada and had to turn the match in order to reach the next round. Experienced Alize Cornet joined the seeded trio in the second round. Cornet has defeated Bonaventure in three sets.
In the next round, Williams will be facing the winner of the match between Li and McHale. Anisimiova will meet Daria Kasatkina.
