Mirra Andreeva defeated Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 in the Roland Garros final on clay, in a match defined by early parity before a decisive mid-set momentum swing. Both players exchanged breaks in a fragmented opening phase, with service instability shaping the rhythm of the contest and preventing any sustained control on either side.
The Roland Garros final contrasted Andreeva’s seeded consistency throughout the draw with Chwalinska’s breakthrough run from qualifying into her first Grand Slam final. The result delivered Andreeva her maiden major title, built on a decisive shift after the midpoint of the first set that completely altered the match structure.

The final opened with Chwalinska breaking first, setting an early tone of instability as both players struggled to establish first-serve control. The opening games were characterised by frequent break exchanges and short rally construction, with neither player able to sustain pressure on serve. From 3-2 in favour of Chwalinska, however, the balance of the match began to shift as Andreeva gradually increased return depth and began reading second serves earlier, reducing her opponent’s ability to construct neutral points.
From that stage onwards, Andreeva’s return positioning became more aggressive, allowing her to take time away on Chwalinska’s serve and immediately force defensive responses. This structural adjustment translated into a decisive run of four consecutive games to close the first set 6-3, as the Russian tightened her baseline patterns, reduced unforced errors, and began to dictate rally initiation consistently from return games. Chwalinska, in contrast, lost the ability to stabilise service holds under sustained pressure.
Andreeva then carried that momentum into the second set, where the match increasingly tilted in her favour as she imposed greater control from the baseline while Chwalinska began to accumulate errors. The Russian’s level rose significantly behind serve and in return phases, and she produced a dominant stretch of nine consecutive games from the middle of the first set into the second, moving into a 5-0 lead as the match slipped away from her opponent.
Chwalinska briefly managed to respond by holding serve and recovering two games, but the interruption was not enough to alter the structural balance of the match. Andreeva reasserted control with another break, and despite a short lapse when serving for the title, she closed out the match without further complications.
Andreeva sealed the Roland Garros Final 6-3, 6-1, completing a dominant performance defined by return pressure, improved baseline depth, and sustained control of rally initiation. The victory secured her first Grand Slam title in convincing fashion.
