It was a very good final between Canada and Spain that featured two very good matches in singles. In the first one Denis Shapovalov took on Paulo Carreno Busta and the Canadian produced some of his best if not best tennis all week long. The Spaniard has been solid all week long but ultimately Shapovalov was able to prevail 6-4 6-3.
The win gave the lead to Canada who could seal with a win by Auger-Aliassime against Roberto Bautista Agut. The Spaniard along with Auger-Aliassime has played the best tennis all week long and their match truly delivered. It was a great showing by both especially by Auger-Aliassime who was perfect from start to finish.
Playing a very aggressive style of play the Canadian served well and attacked well and he certainly outplayed his opponent whose style mostly resembles that of a defensive player. The first set was a tight one with both having chances but in the tiebreak, it was Felix who proved a lot better and calmer. Bautista-Agut had better showings this week but he was all right.
In the 2nd set, he crumbled at a crucial time late in the 2nd set and that proved enough. A brilliant showing from the youngsters who won all of their matches including the doubles.
