Seen as the Next Generation rivalry for tennis supremacy,
Jannik Sinner and
Carlos Alcaraz will clash once more to begin the 2024 season in a pre-season exhibition match in Villena, Spain before they both head to Australia.
According to Tennis Italiano, Sinner will kick off his season at the Kooyong Tennis Classic, a typical exhibition warm-up for the Australian Open. He is currently training in Alicante making a foray with Alcaraz make sense.
They will face off on home turf as such for Alcaraz in the form of coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero's academy in Villena on December 22 in an interesting sight ahead of the new season. Alcaraz will then head to the UAE and play Novak Djokovic over the Christmas period in another exhibition battle.
This seems to be the name of the game for Alcaraz who as of time of writing isn't entered into any warm-up tournaments and seems to be going down his main rival Djokovic's route in only playing exhibitions before the Australian Open.
Time will tell on that one with Alcaraz likely gauging his form and if needed taking late wildcards into warm-up tournaments in Australia which also include Rafael Nadal in the first week in Brisbane in a battle like Sinner and Djokovic that many will want to see in 2024.
