Carlos Alcaraz is in the next round of the
Madrid Open after a solid performance against
Grigor Dimitrov beating the Bulgarian in two sets 6-2 7-5.
It was a largely good performance from Alcaraz who managed to keep the match in two sets despite some minor issues in the second set. We once again saw the Spaniard playing really aggressively and hitting some incredible shots. The first set ended up 6-2 in his favour as he hit 9 winners compared to only 3 unforced errors.
Dimitrov posted a solid 5 and 4 but that was not enough to match Alcaraz. The Bulgarian found a bit more juice in the second set taking an early break to make it 4-2 in his favour. It seemed like Dimitrov would be able to send the match into a 3rd set but Alcaraz was able to break back immediately.
He was even more precise this time around hitting 7 winners and only 1 unforced error. That allowed him to apply even more pressure on Dimitrov who ultimately lost his serve once more in the second set to allow Alcaraz a straight-set win.
