Carlos Alcaraz Australian Open 2021
Carlos Alcaraz overcome the loss of the first set to come back and win against Hugues-Herbert at the Paris Masters.
It was a very entertaining match between Carlos Alcaraz and Pierre Hugues-Herbert. The French player is a very good indoor player as his precise first serve does a lot of damage. The start of the match showcased the skill of both. Herbert served well enough to keep Alcaraz away from break points while Alcaraz bombarded away from the baseline.
That got him a break chance that resulted in Alcaraz taking a 4-2 but he did not hold it very long. He lost his serve in the very next game and after that, we ended up in the tiebreak. Herber was too good in it, serving extremely well, and won it with 7-4. The start of the 2nd set gave both a chance at a break point but neither converted.
After that, both settled in nicely and we did not see many changes until the tiebreak. In the tiebreak the Frenchman's serve abandoned him and it was Alcaraz who was able to win it comfortably with 7-2. The start of the final set featured a huge hold by Alcaraz after he was down 15-40 in the game. When he took a 4-2 lead not long after that it seemed like he would be able to win the match.
However, a bit of magic from Heber pulled the result back to 4-4 and it gave the Frenchman some much-needed momentum. He continued playing well until 5-6 when Alcaraz had his first match points. Herbert saved two of them to create a deuce but two double faults sealed the win for the Spaniard.
