Andy Murray failed to convert 7 match points during his 1st round match against Dominik Koepfer and the Brit admitted after the match he did not deserve to win it.
It was almost a majestic comeback for Andy Murray at the Paris Masters but lackluster play in key rallies ultimately prevented Murray from completing the comeback. The Brit had 7 match points in total out of which 5 were in the tiebreak but he failed to convert either of them. Speaking on the match following the loss he said:
“The thing I’m most disappointed with, was the way that I played tonight, to be honest. I did really well to get myself in the position to win the match, but I don’t think I deserved to win. Obviously I had a ton of opportunities at the end to do it, but the way that I was playing tonight was not good enough."
It's a loss that will sting for a while for Murray who has had some brutal losses in the past couple of months. Nonetheless, it's also a performance on which he can build upon especially with the way his tennis has been trending upwards lately. He also admitted that the late opponent switch contributed to a slow start:
“I found out [about the switch in opponent] post-practice, so that potentially could explain the slow start. But then, once I was into the match, I just made mistake after mistake.”
