"Djokovic desperate to separate himself from Nadal and Federer" says Tim Mayotte

Novak Djokovic quite possibly has had the best tennis career we ever saw yet the Serbian always felt in the shadow of both Nadal and Federer.

The popularity of the Swiss-Spanish duo is something unparalleled in the world of tennis with both players enjoying widespread popularity around the world. Djokovic's popularity, as high as it is, never quite reached the same level mostly because Djokovic never shied away from speaking his mind. The Serbian always portray himself rather accurately in the public eye and many criticized that.

That is why former top ten in the world Tim Mayotte believes the Serbian is desperate the separate himself from the two in the records in order to have a greater claim on the 'GOAT' status compared to those two. Many people are still unwilling to call Djokovic the best ever simply because they prefer the other two more. If Djokovic surpasses their records by a mile his claim will be hard to argue against.
