Carlos Alcaraz continues winning matches and the latest one came against
Karen Khachanov with the Spaniard winning 6-1 6-4 6-4.
This was a match between players of two different levels and it was pretty clear early on that Khachanov could not keep up with Alcaraz who was very inspired for tennis early on. The Spaniard took the early break and never looked back easing to a 6-1 first set win. He had 12 winners in that set with Khachanov only two and the Russian struggled with his serve.
If his serve is not a factor that's a pretty hard job for the Russian. He would have probably prefered this match to be played during the day in faster conditions but it did not happen. The 2nd set was much better from Khachanov but Alcaraz was still better. He had more winners and fewer errors with the serve still not a huge factor in the match.
6-4 was the score with Alcaraz pretty close to his maiden quarterfinal at the French Open. He opened the 3rd set with an early break as well but Khachanov was able to battle back and make it 3-3. The Spaniard was not as sharp as before which gave Khachanov some chances. He ruined them by giving Alcaraz a break point and he converted it with a tweener lob on break point just to add insult to injury.
That was the final set and match essentially as Alcaraz eased to a 6-4 finish to move to his maiden French Open quarterfinal.
