Carlos Alcaraz played a nearly flawless match against
Federico Coria but he complicated things in the final set 6-2 6-1 7-5.
Coria was never really a threat to Alcaraz in this match because the Argentine barely ever plays on hard courts. He only plays the matches he needs to but managed to win in round one. He was pretty decent to start this one forcing Alcaraz to play some serious tennis early.
He obliged and after getting into a rhythm smashed the Argentine 6-2 in the first set. He had 15 winners in that one compared to Coria's 3. The second set continued in a similar rhythm as Alcraz was dominating points with his groundstrokes.
Coria tried various things but nothing really worked. Alcaraz had 13 winners to Coria's 2. The final set featured Alcaraz jumping out to an early lead once more but this time around Coria battled back to make it 4-4. Eventually, the Spaniard would get another chance and he finished it off 7-5 in the final set.
41 winners for the Spaniard compared to Coria's 13. Paints a pretty clear picture.
