Former Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz is out of two of his beloved tournaments in the form of Queen's and the main event itself Wimbledon as it seems like he is not fully back from his injury absence yet.
Alcaraz pulled out of Barcelona before his scheduled second round match against Tomas Machac and decided not to compete at the Masters 1000 in Madrid. He then confirmed that he wouldn't be back until at least June missing Roland Garros.
It seems to be more serious than first thought as it seemed like it was a mere precaution at the time that he would miss Rome and Roland Garros.

Prudent in withdrawing from Roland Garros and now Wimbledon exit confirms long stint on sidelines

Albeit at the time, he was very much prudent in not ruling anything in or out and said he was waiting on further tests which perhaps gave more questions than answers when it came down to it. “After the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that the most prudent thing to do is to be cautious and not participate in Rome or Roland Garros as we wait to evaluate the progress so we can decide when to return to the court. This is a difficult time for me, but I am sure we will come out of it stronger,” he wrote on his social media accounts.
But now he will miss Queen's where he first emerged on grass as well as Wimbledon and won't return it seems until at least the US hard court swing later in the Summer so Jannik Sinner is very much in the clear both at the top of the rankings and the top of the sport.
Without his main rival and with little challenge below, Sinner will now be the huge favourite for both majors and to defend his Wimbledon title in what is a huge blow for Alcaraz and also men's tennis.
"My recovery is going well and I’m feeling much better, but unfortunately I’m still not ready to compete, which is why I have to withdraw from the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon. They are two truly special tournaments for me and I will miss them a lot. We’ll keep working to come back as soon as possible," said Alcaraz on Instagram.
