Already featuring a star-studded line-up, the 2025 ABN AMRO Open will add more starpower as former World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz has been added to the entry list.
The reigning Wimbledon champion will be the third top 5 player announced for the event in Rotterdam. World No.1 Jannik Sinner won the title at this year's event, defeating Alex De Minaur in the final. Former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev has also been announced for the event, with the Russian lifting the trophy in 2023, defeating Sinner at that year's final.
The Spaniard has made a few changes to his ATP schedule for the upcoming season. Alcaraz often competes in Buenos Aires and Rio at that time of the year, but he will make skipping those events next year in order to get more practice on indoor courts.
"I am happy that Carlos has chosen to travel to Europe this time after the Australian Open," said Rotterdam tournament direct Richard Krajicek. "As a young player he was given the opportunity on the clay in Rio. A surface that many Spanish players grow up with.
"With titles at Wimbledon, US Open and Roland Garros, he has now shown that he is one of the best players on all types of surfaces. Alcaraz has been high on our wish list for a while. With four titles to his name at the age of 21, he is one of the most spectacular talents ever. It’s about time he comes to the ABN AMRO Open.
"Sinner and Alcaraz are the two players who can dominate tennis in the coming years. It is not without reason that they won all three Grand Slams this year. We are very proud that we can welcome them both."
