Carlos Alcaraz has strengthened his grip on the top of the
ATP Rankings and doesn't look likely to relinquish said top spot anytime soon amid his recent Australian Open title win.
Alcaraz now holds three out of the four Grand Slams after he triumphed at Roland Garros and US Open last year. He was also runner-up at Wimbledon and the ATP Finals and won three Masters 1000 titles and three ATP 500 titles. He leads the
ATP Rankings by some distance.
But on the alternative rankings, he is not top.
Jannik Sinner resumes his reign through this system compared to Alcaraz's foray at the top of the main rankings. The
UTR Rankings count points earned in the Last 52 weeks. It is based off an algorithm that places more weight on recent results and wins against higher ranked players.
It is open to all levels of tennis and all players regardless of age, gender, geography or skill level. They are all rated on the same skill level between 1.00 and 16.50 based on match results.
Only matches within the last 12 months are counted towards this rating and the algorithm uses the last 30 matches that a player competes in or less if they played less than 30 in the last 12 months.
Despite trailing Alcaraz by a considerable amount (2,850 points) in all, Sinner is the no.1 with a rating of 16.37, this just shy of the perfect mark. He was the semi-finalist at the 2026 Australian Open while he also won Wimbledon, the ATP Finals, the Paris Masters, the Vienna Open and the China Open within the last 12 months.
He was also a runner-up at Roland Garros, the US Open, the Italian Open and the Cincinnati Open in 2025. Alcaraz is second on the list with a rating of 16.32 while Novak Djokovic who is the world no.3 and is ranked third in UTR with a rating with 16.02.
Jannik Sinner leads alternative rankings.
