Carlos Alcaraz avenged his Monte-Carlo loss to Sebastian Korda by beating him at Roland Garros 6-4 6-4 6-4 moving to round 4.
The Spaniard played the kind of match he needed to play in order to put himself in a great position for the next rounds. After playing 5 rounds against Ramos, he needed a cruising victory against Korda and he got it done in 3 sets and about two hours of play. Alcaraz opened well against Korda who was quite nervous and could not find his rhythm.
He served okay but his forehand was misfiring quite a bit. On the other hand, Alcaraz was quite a bit better than against Ramos. Both had a negative winner-error ratio but Alcaraz had more winners and he spread them out better. It was enough for a 6-4 1st set finish. Both upped their aggressiveness in the 2nd set as both allowed the other some chances.
Korda had a break point early but he failed to use them. It was disappointing for him as he lost his serve in the very next game. From there Alcaraz controlled the set quite well winning it 6-4. Korad opened the 2nd set well as he held his serve early saving a break point. He then had 40-15 on Alcaraz's serve but after failing to convert that he folded.
Alcaraz went on to win the match 6-2 in the final set as Korda committed 14 errors to only 3 winners and that was obviously not good enough. Overall 23 and 40 for Korda was never going to get it done, especially not against Alcaraz's solid 23 and 26.
