Norway’s tennis star
Casper Ruud will miss the upcoming ATP
Finals event after a disappointing outing in the
Paris Masters.
The 24-year-old had hopes of playing in the last big tournament
of the men’s tennis calendar depending upon his performance in the ongoing Paris
Masters.
However, Ruud did not live up to the expectations as he
suffered a defeat in the round of 32 of the competition to Argentina’s Francisco
Cerundolo with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
The three-time Grand Slam finalist came second-best in last year’s competition as he lost to the current world number one Serbia’s
legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic in the final with a score of 7-5, 6-3.
The results also means that Ruud will finish the year outside
the top-10 in the ATP rankings.
The Oslo-born will not look back at 2023 with a lot of fond
memories, especially in big tournaments.
The highlight of the year for Ruud will be his performance
in the French Open where for the second year running, he played in the final of
the competition.
However, once again he ended up on the losing side, this
time to Djokovic who came out on top with a score of 7–6(7–1), 6–3, 7–5.
