Daniil Medvedev advances to Diriyah Tennis Cup final over Wawrinka

Daniil Medvedev defeated Alexander Zverev yesterday and today he played another solid match to take down Wawrinka in two sets 6-4 6-4.

The win sends him into the final where he'll have a chance to defend his trophy won in 2019 when he last played at the event. The opponent will either be Fritz or Norrie with the Russian expected to be the favourite regardless of whom he plays.

The win over Wawrinka was a rather simple one as Medvedev proved he was better. Their last match this year was indoors and was a win for Wawrinka so the Russian was able to fight back nicely in this one. It was a close match as Wawrinka did as much as he could but it was not enough.

One break in both sets were enough for Medvedev who faced plenty of break points but he was able to save them. Both played faced many break points but ultimately the crucial moments were played better by Medvedev and that proved key in the 6-4 6-4 win.
