Daniil Medvedev has won the last 18 matches since the Paris Masters, earning the sixth-longest streak among the active players and reaching the Australian Open quarter-final for the first time.
Daniil defeated Mackenzie McDonald in straight sets to sail into Melbourne's last eight, setting an anticipated clash against Andrey Rublev on Wednesday. Asked about Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, the Russian praised the world's most accomplished players and everything they have achieved over the years. Danill is yet to win his first Major, and he understands that it would take five perfect years for him to reach Federer and Nadal on 20 Majors, winning best-of-five matches and avoiding injuries during that process.
"For me, I pick all of the three because no matter how many Majors they all have at the end of their careers, what they did in tennis is amazing. I remember when Pete Sampras beat the Major record; I was young. I remember all the news, saying, 'This record is forever.' Just like Messi and Ronaldo in football. Then the three guys came, they not only beat the record, but they also destroyed it.
It is fantastic because, for example, me, I'm 25, and I play good tennis. I feel like I'm one of the world's leading players, and I still have zero Majors. Imagine me reaching 20; I would need to win every Major for five years against notable opponents in the best-of-five encounters without getting injured; those are ridiculous numbers. For me, Roger, Rafa and Novak are, for sure, the greatest players in tennis history," Daniil Medvedev said.
