Skipping all the action since Acapulco last year, Nick Kyrgios returned to action in Melbourne in the previous weeks, playing on a high level at the Australian Open to reach the third round.
While his game deserves the green light, Nick couldn't control his words outside the court, staying on Novak Djokovic's trail for days and mocking world no. 1 ahead of his doubles match on Sunday. Despite all that, Tim Henman believes that Nick Kyrgios is good for tennis, primarily when he focuses on his game. The Briton understands that we never know what to expect from the Aussie, although he would love to see Nick fulfilling his potential and chasing notable titles in the future.
"With Kyrgios, it's a fine line; he's a character on and off the court. But it's very important that he can still concentrate so that these antics don't become a distraction and affect his performance. Sometimes I think he has to learn where to draw the line and get back to the basics of implementing the enormous talent that he has on the court. For me, Nick Kyrgios is great for tennis. He's a volatile character; you never quite know what to expect.
He's a huge talent, one of the game's best servers. His heart is also at the right place; he supported my charity foundation, with other good stuff off the court. If he could maintain that concentration and focus, both on the practice and match court, I think he can go on and produce bigger and better results. I'm a fan; I hope he can channel that talent and win some big titles in the future," Tim Henman said.
