Daniil Medvedev kicks off Roland Garros with win over Bagnis

Daniil Medvedev played a very balanced match in round one of Roland Garros winning 6-2 6-2 6-2 over Facundo Bagnis.

Medvedev arrived in Paris with only one match after his long layoff due to hernia surgery and it was a loss in Geneva. it's not the best preparation for Medvedev who doesn't like to play on clay but it was enough to take down Bagnis. This was far from a good match by Medvedev as he played quite loose. He broke his opponent in the first game of the match but lost his serve by doubling on break point.

He laughed it off as e understood that he was going to win this match and that proved the case. However, at times he allowed lapses of focus to really creep in complicating things more than he would have liked. Overall it was just a solid match to get himself going and that little adversity he faced will suit him well moving forward.

Medvedev opted to keep the points short in order to keep the match short. He had 14 winners in set number one and only 5 errors. In set number two it was 10 winners and 5 errors with the 3rd set being 11 winners and 9 errors. He hit 13 aces in the match as well in a very solid match serving. Overall a good start at the French Open.
