Emma Raducanu flirted with a defeat in round one of
Roland Garros but the Brit came back and won a very gruelling affair against 17-year old Noskova.
It was a very tough match but Raducanu showed maturity and patience waiting for the teenager to lose her very level. When she did, Raducanu pounced and never let go of the match. Speaking after it, she admitted that it was a battle:
“It was an absolute battle. I have to say Linda’s
playing some amazing tennis. She really came out firing. As soon as I
dropped my ball speed, she was killing me. It was really challenging to
hold on, hold my serve and keep breaking back. I’m really proud of how I
fought."
She further said:
“I really have no expectations. I’m really happy to be
competing here after Rome. I’m just looking forward to trying to stay as
long as possible really.”
Raducanu faces a familiar face in Sasnovich next. The Belarussian player was the first one she played after winning the US Open and Raducanu lost that match 2-6 4-6. Maybe she'll do better at the
French Open.
