Stefanos Tsitsipas played some good tennis during the North American tour but he was doing so with an injured foot that gave him persistent pain.
The injury became public knowledge when the Greek called for a medical timeout in his match against Carlos Alcaraz which he lost in 5 sets. Tsitsipas did not speak too much on the injury after his loss avoiding questions about it. He was set to play for Greece over the weekend in the Davis Cup but was unable to due to the same problem.
He is now slated to play in the Laver Cup in a few days but it remains to be seen whether he truly does or doesn't. His father shared an update on his condition:
"This foot injury has been present throughout the US tour, including the US Open. We tried to find solutions so that he could play with this pain, but it was also decided that a period of 15 days of rest was needed after this uncomfortable period. That day, he was able to hit the ball normally for half an hour. Very soon, he will make official his schedule for the end of the season."
Apostolos Tsitsipas did not confirm or deny his participation in the Laver Cup but the Greek is still officially listed as a player on the Team Europe roster. He did note that the Greek would reveal his plans for the rest of the season soon.
