Despite stacked line-up, ABN AMRO Rotterdam director reveals one player they miss out on every year: "Every year we prepare invitation for Novak Djokovic"

Novak Djokovic won't be in Rotterdam this year and it's something tournament director Krajicek had tried to change for many years without success.

Djokovic is still the best player in the world and he showed that at the Australian Open clearly. That is why the tournament in Rotterdam has been trying to get Djokovic for years yet he's always declined. For the Serbian, it's imperative to preserve his body in the best way possible for the grand slams and he rarely plays these smaller events.

It was even less likely this year considering his Australian Open injury and tournament director Krajicek confirmed that:

“We actually prepare an invitation for Djokovic every year. We thought: if he is not allowed to re-enter Australia, we will definitely talk to him. But when we learned that he would be allowed to participate in the Australian Open, we already knew that he would not come to Rotterdam."

It's disappointing for the event as they have been trying for years but never quite get it done.
