The run of
Novak Djokovic and his compatriot
Filip Krajinovic in the Paris doubles draw is over after the duo got beaten by Peers and Polasek 7-6(2) 6-4.
Novak Djokovic elected to play in the
Paris Masters double section in order to get himself some valuable on-court time after a two-month layoff. The Serbian chose Krajinovic as his partner probably because they will be playing doubles for Serbia in the Davis Cup Finals as well. They started off well but their run came to an end today.
Peers and Polasek are a very good doubles pairing and today they proved much better than their opponents. The match was fairly close but every time there was a crucial rally or point they proved better. In the first set, they took a break first however they lost it immediately after that. We ended up in the tiebreak where it was Peers and Polsek that proved better.
Peers was serving extremely well while Polasek demonstrated fabulous volleying ability on the net and that proved a winning combination. It was 7-2. The 2nd proved another interesting one where Djokovic and Krajinovic held their serve rather easily at the start. Both teams faced break points but the winner was not decided until fairly late in the set when the Australian - Slovakian combination closed it out with 6-4.
Not the desired result for Djokovic but he got two doubles matches under his belt which will suit him in his ambition to return to playing shape quickly with a couple of important events coming up.
