The Australian and the Serb have shown a great relationship, especially since Kyrgios publicly supported Djokovic after he was prevented from playing in the 2022 Australian Open. The last time they met was in the 2022 Wimbledon final, in which Nole achieved his 21th Grand Slam, in four sets, an occasion in which both players showed great respect for their rival before and after the match.
On Instagram, a fan refers to a possible duo between both players: “The Nov-ick Bromance is mode On.” Although they have never played doubles together, Kyrgios replied that we could see them playing together next month at the BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells, if the world No.1 is allowed to enter the USA:
“If Novak is allowed in the USA we are playing doubles at Indian Wells. Y’all ready?”, said the aussie.
The world No. 20 mentioned about the importance of Nole on the circuit, and that he is allowed to be present in all tournaments:
"I think Novak needs to be playing at all costs. He's one of the greatest of all time and as long as he's going to be playing and hanging around, we need him at these tournaments."
He also opined that it isn’t the same to compete for a tournament without the presence of Djokovic:
"I think, as a competitor, I want to see him there. And if I win a tournament, if you don't go through Novak, then you kind of know the tournament isn't really a tournament,", said Kyrgios.
