Serbia defeated Russia 3-0 in the semifinals at the 2020 ATP Cup in Australia to become the first finalist.

Serbia did not lose any tie at the ATP Cup, but Russia seemed to be a really difficult opponent and probably nobody expected any side to win the tie 3-0. But the squad around Novak Djokovic was able to do it.
In the first match, Dusan Lajovic faced Karen Khachanov and it was the match of service games. During the match, we have seen only one breakpoint. It was in the 12th game of the first set when Dusan Lajovic used it and broke Khachanov's service to earn the lead in the match. In the second set, tie-break had to decide as players were unable to break each other again. There, Lajovic dominated when he has won it 7-1 and gave his country lead in the semifinal tie.
In the second match, Novak Djokovic could clinch the victory for Serbia. He struggled against Daniil Medvedev last season but he could start the new season with a victory over the young Russian. And he did, Djokovic has won the first set 6-1 but lost the second 5-7. In the third set, Djokovic turned away 3 breakpoints of the Russian in the 10th game to convert his second match point and secure the spot in the final for Serbia.
Coaches nominated their players no. 4 & 5 for doubles again as there was not a lot to play for anymore. Cacic & Troicki defeated Gabashvili & Kravchuk 6-4, 7-6 to give their country a prefect 3-0 victory. In the final, Serbia will be facing the winner of the tie between Australia and Spain.
