Djokovic Wimbledon 2021
It was a well-contested match by both Djokovic and Fucsovics with the Serbian emerging victorious 6-3 6-4 6-4 after some stellar tennis in crucial moments.
It was far from a surgical performance by Novak Djokovic who played well enough to beat a solid Marton Fucsovics in straight sets. Neither player displayed brilliance today but Djokovic was simply better in the most important points. The first set was not a good one by Fucsovics who played very nervous initially. Djokovic was able to jump out to a 5-0 lead before the Hungarian settled a bit.
With some great winners he was able to soften the blow the Djokovic still took the opening one with 6-3. The 2nd set was a very closely contested one that was decided by one break. Fucsovics at times looked better than Djokovic but he could not crack the Serbian's first serve.
Similar to the first set, Djokovic was once again too strong on his first serve rarely dropping points and that did not give Fucsovis enough opportunities to break the Serbian. He did not see a break point in the 2nd set while Djokovic saw six and converted one.
The 3rd set started with Djokovic breaking Fuscovics in the first game. The Hungarian forced 3 break points in the next game but Djokovic saved all of them. Djokovic struggled in the set, especially when serving but Fucsovics could not find a breakthrough. In the end, Djokovic closed it out with 6-4 after finding some rhythm late.
