World No.1 Novak Djokovic continues to pile up the accolades in his illustrious career, as the Serbian surpassed Roger Federer for the most weeks spent atop the FedEx ATP rankings.
The nine-time Australian Open champion joined hundreds of fans in his homeland of Serbia to celebrate this achievement, as they gathered outside Belgrade's city hall on Monday night. In addition to a huge fireworks display in front of the Djokovic family restaurant in Belgrade, bigger buildings in the city were illuminated with Djokovic's portrait.
Furthermore, there was also a video projection of the best moments of the 18-time Grand Slam champion's career. This was a heartfelt moment, which was witnessed by Djokovic himself, alongside his parents; Srdjan and Dijana.
“Today is a special day for myself, my family as well as Serbia,” said Djokovic. “Thank you for the success, which is not only mine, but of the whole nation.”
