Novak Djokovic won the 2022 Tel Aviv Open which is the 89th trophy of his career and he closed in on Nadal and Federer's tally.
The overall trophies won is an interesting stat as it shows the ability of the player to prove better than everybody else at an event. Jimmy Connors holds the overall record so far with 109 trophies won and even the great Roger Federer was not able to dethrone him although he came fairly close.
The Swiss maestro has 103 career trophies but that number won't change as he recently retired from tennis. Rafael Nadal is on the list as well and he has won 92 trophies so far which is an incredible number although quite far away from Federer.
He is still playing though so he can increase the tally. Novak Djokovic is playing and he is closing in on both marks with his recent trophy in Tel Aviv. That was his 89th career trophy and he can increase it even further this year.
Considering the level fo tennis he is displaying and his good health, it's not unfathomable to see Djokovic overtaking Nadal and even Federer when all things are said and done. It would certainly bolster his case for the GOAT Race.
