Novak Djokovic needed to defeat Alexander Zverev in straight sets in order to be able to play the final at the Adria Tour.
After
Novak Djokovic lost to Filip Krajinovic in his 2nd appearance at the
Adria Tour, things got more complicated for the Serbian. The world number 1 needed a victory in straight sets against
Alexander Zverev to be able to play the final.
Djokovic started the match as he imagined it. The Serbian broke Zverev's service twice in the first set and won it comfortably 4-0. However, he needed to be careful because the
German came back against Krajinovic after losing the first set 0-4.
And that's what happened in the second set. After Djokovic didn't convert a breakpoint opportunity he had in the 2nd game. Zverev used his break opportunity in the next game to get a 2-1 lead. After 23-years-old German held his service game, he led already 3-1 in the set. He finally won set two with 4-1 and it also meant that Dokovic will not play in the final of the Adria Tour tournament in Belgrade.
Djokovic stepped up his game in the 3rd set again when he managed to win it and win the whole match 4-0, 1-4, 4-2.
That was not enough for him to reach the final as he sent fellow countryman Filip Krajinovic to the final.
