Djokovic glad he ended Australian Open roller-coaster with a trophy

Novak Djokovic won the 2021 Australian Open following a victory over Daniil Medvedev and after the match, he reflected upon everything.

It was a stellar performance from Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final against Daniil Medvedev. This victory was a special one for Novak because all of the things did not go as planned during the past fortnight. After the match Novak reflected on some of that:

“It has been definitely emotionally the most challenging Grand Slam that I ever had with everything that was happening, injury, off-the-court stuff, quarantines. It has been, least to say, a roller-coaster ride in the last four weeks."

Novak also reflected upon the mental obstacles he faced lately saying:

“It was very challenging for me to keep my mind serene and keep my focus directed into what matters the most. I have put a lot of energy and time, along with my team, to be here sitting with a trophy."

Djokovic also spoke about his opponent giving him high praise. He said:

“Medvedev was definitely a guy to beat today. I mean, 20-match winning streak. Tsitsipas, (Alexander) Zverev, Medvedev, all won World Tour Finals, multiple Masters 1000 events and (have a) high ranking. They have all contested in semis and finals of slams, so it's just a matter of time (before they break through)."

Ending it on a light note Djokovic said he hopes their breakthrough waits a little bit more as he hopes to add a few more of these in the future. If he continues playing the way he did it will certainly happen.
