Novak Djokovic started off his Tokyo
Olympic Games campaign with a routine victory over
Hugo Dellien 6-2 6-2.
Novak Djokovic arrived in Tokyo as the clear cut favourite to the gold medal at the Olympic Games. It's something he never did and something he has wanted to do since he was a little child. Today he started off good after taking down Dellien in straight sets.
Djokovic was in control from the start attacking Dellien with his strong return. The Bolivian does not have a strong serve which created plenty of opportunities to attack him. Longer rallies also favoured Djokovic as he was able to set up points before finishing them.
That approach yielded results as Novak won the opening set with 6-2 and continued to play that way in the 2nd set. The Serbian was near perfect all match long on his serve rarely dropping points and not allowing a single break point. All of that was more than enough for the routine win.
