Novak Djokovic will have to dig deep in order to win his first Olympic Medal and his road might include a potential quarterfinal berth against
Andrey Rublev.
Despite some notable absences, the ATP
Olympic Games draw still featured numerous great players that consist of the top 8 seeds. Those players will meet each other in the quarterfinals if they win their matches so let's see what potential quarterfinals we could get.
The first one is Djokovic vs Rublev as both players usually avoid losing matches early in events. Djokovic and Rublev never played so far which is unusual but what better way to start a rivalry than at the Olympic Games. The 2nd potential quarterfinal is between Zverev and Hurkacz.
It's an interesting matchup between two players who have similar games. Both rely on strong serves due to their height and both like to play aggressively. They played once on clay and Hurkacz was able to win one set which should give him confidence on hard courts. The 3rd quarterfinal could be Tsitsipas vs Schwartzman and it's hard to not favour the Greek here.
Schwartzman is capable of playing good on hard courts but the Greek should cruise in this matchup. He will need to gain some confidence as his results post Roland Garros have been shambolic. The final quarterfinal according to seedings should be
Daniil Medvedev vs Bautista-Agut. The Spaniard is in good form but the transition from clay to hard might be tricky.
Andy Murray faces
Felix Auger-Aliassime in the 1st round if the Brit is able to win that match maybe he could upset Bautista too and face Medvedev in the quarterfinal. Auger-Aliassime will also fancy his chances in this part of the draw.
