Dominic Thiem returns to losing ways in Estoril against Halys

After two solid wins in Estoril, Dominic Thiem lost a match against and it was against Quentin Halys who has been having an incredible week in Estoril.

It's been an incredible year for Halys in general with some incredible performances. Much of what he does well starts with his serve but he's also capable of playing some really good baseline tennis. The French player isn't generally known for his clay prowess but he's playing really well this week in Estoril.

He backed it up today against Thiem who really had no chance in this matchup. For the most part, it went quite comfortably for Halys, especially in the first set where he destroyed Thiem 6-1. Nothing that the Austrian tried worked that well. Halys lost only four points after his 1st serve which is quite impressive for a clay match.

He applied heavy pressure on Thiem with his return as well and that worked out well for him too. Thanks to his good serving day, Halys was able to save both break points he faced and finished off the match 6-1 6-4. Positive signs for Thiem this week but far from good overall. A lot of work ahead.
