From Monday, February 17, to Saturday, February 22, the ATP 500 Qatar Open will take center stage, featuring Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic as the main attractions.

The absence of Jannik Sinner was confirmed just hours ago, as the world No. 1 accepted a three-month suspension in a doping case settlement with WADA. The draw will be packed with top-10 players, including Daniil Medvedev, Alex De Minaur, and Andrey Rublev.

Top seed Alcaraz will face former US Open champion Marin Cilic, while in the same quarter of the draw, seventh seed Grigor Dimitrov will take on Jiri Lehecka.

The tournament will also mark Novak Djokovic's return to competition, with a tough opening-round match against former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini. The Serbian star has won the title in Doha twice, in 2016 and 2017, defeating Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, respectively.

There are still doubts about whether Djokovic will be fully competitive following the thigh injury he sustained at the Australian Open. Initially expected to be sidelined for several months, Djokovic has seemingly expedited his comeback due to his commitments as a tennis ambassador in Qatar.

Another exciting matchup will feature eighth seed Jack Draper against 2024 Canadian Open champion Alexei Popyrin, both potential quarterfinal opponents for Djokovic—provided he advances. Defending champion Daniil Medvedev (fourth seed) will face fellow Russian and reigning titleholder Karen Khachanov in a high-stakes clash.
