The
draw has been confirmed ahead of the 2024
Hangzhou Open which is due to take place between 18 September - 22 September in a first airing for the tournament.
The population of Hangzhou sits at nearly 13 million and replaces Zhuhai in a tournament which will see tennis for the first time. It features a 8,000 seat centre court with a retractractable roof.
Yibing Wu, a prominent Chinese star is from the city and will be involved over the next week. But the tournament is headlined by Holger Rune. He is top seed and will face either Sumit Nagal or a qualifier in the second round.
Karen Khachanov is second seed and faces either Hugo Gaston or Yunchaokete Bu in the second round. Zhizhen Zhang is another home hope and could face Aslan Karatsev in the second round. The aforementioned Yibing Wu could face Brandon Nakashima who is fourth seed. Marin Cilic, Fabian Marozsan, Luciano Darderi, Tomas Martin Etcheverry among others are involved.
The latter could face Corentin Moutet or Roberto Carballes Baena in the second round. A first airing for the ATP 250 with a good line-up albeit hampered by being the week before many of the big names will head to Asia.
Many either are taking holidays or are playing Laver Cup ahead of the Japan Open, China Open and Shanghai Masters. So in reality it could've been even better. But in a week which sits in limbo of sorts, it is a good opportunity for form for some players such as Rune.
