Doubles duty 💪💪 Novak Djokovic teamed up with Hamad Medjedovic to secure Serbia's spot in the 2025 Davis Cup qualifiers 🇷🇸
Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic has revealed he and his wife Jelena argue about not giving their kids cell phones. The 37-year-old is already regarded as the greatest player in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category, having won as many as 24 Grand Slam titles.
Djokovic is currently in Belgrade, where he is part of Team Serbia, which is facing Greece in the Davis Cup. The Belgrade-born star was recently quoted in a report in which he stated that his kids are not allowed to have a cell phone. Djokovic also highlighted that he and his wife often argue about that.
"My children still don't have a cell phone, my wife and I argue (about it)," he said as quoted by Daily Express. “The kids complain, 'At school everyone has one except us'. It's not easy and this is reflected on other levels as well. If everyone does something, the herd behaves like this, you have to follow them. Well, it doesn't have to be like that. This is where I think we differ from others, because we are stubborn and active."
Djokovic is going through a mixed season at the highest level. For the first time in seven years, the former world number one has failed to win a single Grand Slam. His most impressive outing this season in a mega-event was at Wimbledon, where he finished as the runner-up after losing to Spain’s young tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6. His most recent appearance in the mega-event was at the US Open, where he was knocked out after losing in the third round to Australia’s Alexei Popyrin with a score of 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Despite all that disappointment, Djokovic will remember 2024 as the year when he completed his trophy cabinet. The current world number four finally won an Olympic gold medal for his country. He defeated Alcaraz in the singles category final in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 7-6.
