The ATP will move from Asia back to Europe for the 2025 Almaty Open, which takes place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and is scheduled to run from October 13-19, 2025.
An ATP 250 event, the Almaty Open will pit hard court specialists against each other in front of an appreciative crowd. The singles field will feature 28 players, whereas 16 doubles teams have also been invited to compete.
Introduced in 2020 during the pandemic, the then-Astana Open in Kazakhstan became a permanent fixture on the ATP calendar in 2022, and was subsequently moved to Almaty, the country's largest city.
Despite being one of the newest additions to the ATP calendar, the Almaty Open has an impressive list of champions. Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic won the title in 2022, with French veteran Adrian Mannarino prevailing the following year.

Khachanov returns to defend title

Russian tennis star Karen Khachanov defeated rising Canadian star Gabriel Diallo in last year's final to clinch the title. The Moscow native is slated to compete at this year's event, with the hopes of making it two titles in a row at the Almaty Open.
Khachanov will be joined by compatriot Daniil Medvedev, with the former World No.1 hoping to rediscover his form. Medvedev parted ways with his longtime coach Gilles Cervera after a disappointing outing at the 2025 US Open, with the lanky Russian desperate to return to his winning ways as the season comes to an end.
Kazakh star Alexander Bublik will receive a hero's welcome at his home event. The always entertaining superstar has won three titles this season, but victory in front of his home crowd will undoubtedly be sweeter than the others.
Italians Flavio Cobolli and Luciano Darderi will be competing in Almaty, alongside last year's runner up Gabriel Diallo. Alex Michelsen and Brandon Nakashima will represent the United States, and each will be ager to end the 2025 season on a positive note.

Predictions

Samuel Gill, Head Editor of TennisUpToDate.com sees Daniil Medvedev keeping his ATP Finals hunt alive.
Daniil Medvedev has a weakened field of sorts with a certain Alexander Bublik who would likely be a favourite not playing.
So I see him continuing his revival with a title win at the Almaty Open in Kazakhstan. Karen Khachanov and Gabriel Diallo I also see having a good week too.
