The European Open is set for a relocation in 2025. The mega-event has been organised for nine years in Antwerp, but as per the latest report, it will now move to Brussels in 2025. The development was confirmed in a post on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter.

The tournament featured some notable winners in the past, including some of the former and current world number ones. Legendary British tennis star Andy Murray lifted the title in 2019 after beating Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka in the final with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. He was the second British player to lift the title. The other player was Kyle Edmund, who lifted the title and got the better of France’s Gael Monfils in the final with a score of 3-6, 7-6, 7-6.

Current men’s world number one Jannik Sinner lifted the title in 2021, where he defeated Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2. France’s Richard Gasquet was the first-ever champion of The European Open. In 2016, he got the better of Schwartzman in the final in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-1.

He was one of the two Frenchmen who lifted the competition. The other French player who won the European Open title was Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who also defeated Schwartzman in the final with a score of 6-3 and 7-5. Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut will be defending his title this year as he lifted the competition after beating Czech Republic’s Jiri Lehecka in the final in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-1.
