Rafael Nadal spoke about the World Cup in Qatar sharing his thoughts on the whole situation and freedom of speech.

The World Cup in Qatar has created a lot of controversy due to the differing political stances of the host country and visiting countries. FIFA, the governing body of football is trying to manoeuvre the situation but it did not go smoothly which is why they had banned all political displays during the event.

It's something that created even more controversy with FIFA being branded corrupt. Nadal was asked about it during his stay in South America as he's been playing in the Persian Gulf for many years:

"We are in a global world in which people must have more and more rights. Everyone must have the freedom to express the feelings they have, as long as they do not harm others."

He added:

"Sport is a place to express oneself, because it has a global exposure at the media level, but, beyond all that, for me the important thing is to end up playing football. The decisions that FIFA makes or does not make may seem better or worse to me, but in the end they are rules and attitudes that they want to take at their event . The rest must be free to express themselves and show their disagreement, as is already happening".
