Taylor Fritz had a really interesting night in Paris where he clashed with the Roland Garros crowd multiple times ultimately leaving the court while being booed.
The American was facing a native player Rinderknech, the last French player in the draw and they let him have it for much of the match. After he finally finished of the match, Fritz shushed the crowd celebrating heavily which the crowd didn't like. They showered him with booes pretty much until he left the court.
He played it up after battling the crowd for over two hours so it will be interesting to see what happens when he returns to the court. For now, check out some of the reactions below from prominent tennis people below. Mark Petchey said:
"Exactly what tennis needs. Unfiltered emotions from the fans and players @Taylor_Fritz97 absolutely on point out there tonight"
"It’s hard to understand unless you’ve walked in his shoes. For the entire match he’d have been trying to hold it together, trying not to give the crowd any more ammo to use. That’s a lot of built up emotion he’s letting out at the end there."
Patrick McEnroe reacted to it as well:
"Taylor Fritz Q factor just went up exponentially….well played @Taylor_Fritz97 on every level"
Tennis journalist Jose Morgado called it one of the best moments of the event:
"One of the best moments of the week at #RolandGarros so far. It’s been some tournament"
Fellow journalist James Gray added:
"Spectacular shithousery from Taylor Fritz, who guarantees he will get booed for the rest of the tournament - and I am here for it."
