Federer underwent knee surgery, going to miss at least 3 months

Roger Federer announced today via. Twitter that he underwent knee surgery, will miss every event up until the French Open including it.

Roger Federer has put out a statement announcing that he underwent arthroscopic surgery which will keep him out of tennis at least until Roland Garros which runs from the 24th of May till the 7th of June.

In the brief twitter statement, he explained that his knee has been bothering him for a while and after consulting doctors they recommended surgery. He also said it's the best way to make sure he will fully recover. He thanked everybody for their support. He didn't offer comment on the situation yet. We will have an update as more details emerge.

The full statement reads:

"My right knee has been bothering me for a little while. I hoped it would go away, but after an examination, and discussion with my team, I decided to have arthroscopic surgery in Switzerland yesterday. After the procedure, the doctors confirmed that it was the right thing to have done and are very confident of a full recovery. As a result, I will miss Dubai, Indian Wells, Bogota, Miami and the French Open. I am grateful for everyone's support. I can't wait to be back playing again soon, see you on the grass."

His last appearance was in an exhibition charity match in Africa with Nadal. After it, he went on vacation with his family.
